A joint effort of Williamsport area churches and people.

In response to unacceptable community conditions including poverty and violence, we encourage one another and our community to take the following actions:

1. Organize and participate in ongoing Community Prayer Services
   
    
2. Work with other housing related organizations (Habitat, etc) to improve available housing stock, reduce blight, increase percent of home ownership
   
    
3. Support and encourage expansion of youth oriented activities in the community including the Ground Floor and the Fifth Quarter
   
    
4. Support and encourage one on one mentoring relationship for youth and at risk individuals
   
    
5. Organize, publicize and implement community wide small group study sessions on relevant community issues
   
    
6. Offer summer park programs through ministerium groups
   
    
7. Plan, build and support a community wide bulletin board system to help keep neighborhoods up to date on events happening
   
    
8. Provide strong community feedback on drug and alcohol issues
   
    
9. Reactivate the “Adopt a Cop” program whereby a church can adopt to pray for and support a specific public service officer, add “adopt a teacher”, “Adopt a Grade” and so on, to connect church groups to education resources
   
    
10. Actively support and promote other programs by other community and faith based groups that also address these issues. Example: America’s Promise:  see www.americaspromise.org

These 10 items will be expanded upon, task groups formed, resourced and implemented. Other items will be added as the groups discern what is needed and achievable.
